FLEA MARKET FIND

Flea markets and thrift stores are amazing places to find things when you're plus size. (I've been having really great second hand luck lately!) You don't feel bad cutting, sewing and pinning things when they cost $3! Luckily this poncho came in perfect worn in condition, no alterations necessary! If only it had been $3, but somethings are too good to leave behind. Threw it on over an old black tee, skinnies and fucked up old converse. PS the hat was another flea market score!

MY SHOP - LIEBLING AND BURKE

 TODAY

Today I'm sitting at my home away from home, The Line Hotel having coffee, trying so hard not to be overwhelmed. I'm in the beginning phases of opening a plus size shop (online, for now!) and am at the point where I know exactly what I want and want to do. But money. Man why is it always about the money. I like money, I like making it and I like working hard for it. (insert theme song: she works hard for the money! haha) But today my goals seem so far from reach. I have decided to try something I was totally against doing in the beginning. I'm going to launch an Indiegogo. (just like Kickstarter) to raise money for this dream of mine. Next month I film the video and will be going live with my campaign. I have to say I'm super pumped about the chance to spread the word about Liebling and Burke, and more importantly pumped to raise money to be able to bring current, well thought out, plus size clothes to the table.
I have been so over, for pretty much my whole life, plus size retailers, (except for a few) who just don't get it. And honestly, in my opinion who don't want or even try to get it. Like the "new" line from Target, Ava + Liv, um, no thanks. Just because you got some of my fav plus size ladies in your campaign doesn't mean I can't tell you just slapped a new name on your plus size line. You have all the same lame options you did before. Not impressed. I want to change this. I am the person who gets what we need. What we want. I want to dress girls and make them feel badass because they are. I want to pull people out of "well, its not that cute, but it fits, so I should get it" mentality. I want to offer so much more.
So Indiegogo here I come. I know that no matter what I will find a way to do this. It's my dream and its going to happen.

ALL LIGHT EVERYTHING

For a long time I shied away from lighter colors, white being the fashion devil to a plus size girl. White was in the same category as horizontal stripes, or so I was always told. But wait, why was I shying away from light colors and stripes? I have no fucking idea. I don't why I let peoples opinions on how to make my waist look smaller or my arms not so big affect my fashion choices. Why does anyone's opinion, but my own, on my waist size matter? I doesn't. I have definitely been over those archaic rules for sometime! I'm loving the all light look this spring with all white leather chucks or my beige Birkenstocks.

SOFT AND WORN

I love oversized tshirts. Like really love them. Walking into a store that carries plus sizes I usually swoop through the tshirts first. I am more often than not disappointed, so I go directly to the mens section where I can usually find an XXL that's cool. Like in Old Navy, I hate that what you find in the womens dept is mainly deep scooped neck with tiny cap sleeves and some sort of lame print on the front. But shopping on-line the other night I needed jeans and Rockstars from Old Navy are my jam.
(they fit well and come in array of sizes.) I also found this shirt. Like I said I love them oversized so I was pumped to find this soft, worn in grey tee, especially at Old Navy. I'm pretty sure this one will be in heavy rotation and will only get better with age.

Where do you like to find tees?

A T-SHIRT DRESS

I love a good tshirt dress, who doesn't. This is one of my favorites! I love when its roomy all the way through. So many for plus sizes are tight up top and loose on the bottom. This one has great flow, and the color is perfect to wear with anything.

THE HARD AND THE SOFT

"It's hard to encapsulate my inspiration because there are so many different looks, but I think it's just like, sexy girl you see walking down the street in a cool outfit. A lot of eyelet, a lot of leather, playing with the hard and the soft, the good and the bad inside of us all."

THE LAKE

My family has been going to Lake Nacimiento for generations. We spent last weekend in my families cabin and I was so happy to have my loves together in this amazing place.
My family built this cabin in the late 1960's and it looks almost exactly the same!
We played with bow and arrows and shot pellet and bb guns, go dirty and had major dance parties
Rachel got to fish all weekend.
We ate and drank and ate and drank some more. My cousin Ben is an executive chef in the Bay and has been wowing us with his creations since we were little.
We had the best brekkies with mimosas!
This lake has the ultimate sunsets.
Hanging with my tiny humans
I can't wait until our next trip!
