NEW YORK IS FOR LOVERS

We went back to New York for a friends wedding two weeks ago, and you couldn't get me on that plane fast enough. I was way over due for a trip. NYC with all of its beauty and grit will always be my love. With ups that will be some of your best and downs that can feel oh so low. NYC makes life seem full. It's the city that really helped me find myself. So needless to say I was pumped to be going back, I mean it only took a fucking year. It's the longest I have been away in 10 years! We spent time seeing and loving on as many friends as possible. We talked, ate, drank, walked, shopped and then did them all again. Life was on serious repeat for the weekend and I was beyond ok with that. It was a great trip, way too short, but isn't that always how it is? I can't wait to be back again, I definitely won't let another year pass by!

FLEA MARKET SUNDAY

VINTAGE HUNTING

We usually hit up the Rose Bowl Flea market for vintage finds, but we have been hearing such great things about the Long Beach flea that we decided to meet there early this morning. We all left with a few new treasures, and my bff left with a rug we both really wanted, but it will look amazing in baby Hayes nursery. After today I think Long Beach will be added to our rotation!

DESIGN COLLECTIVE FOR EVANS AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

THIS WEEK IN FASHION

Exciting times in fashion this week! Design Collective for Evans showed in London making it the first  plus size show at London Fashion Week! It seems that these designs are a little more in line with what women are looking for compared to what some of the other retailers are offering. Well, at least a little more of what I'm looking for. I could definitely mix these in with a few thrift store finds. The beige sparkley dress with moto boots is my jam. I'm dying for the Balenciaga Ceinture boots, but I would be totally happy with the Jeffrey Campbell Roscoe! I love the blue crop top paired with the floral skirt and pair of gladiators.
Yesterday I read a few comments people were leaving about the show from different sources, many positive comments about the models and the clothes, but also negative comments about the models not being "real" enough in terms of their shapes. I can totally understand the frustration, but on the other hand, I'm excited to have options other than what we are all too often offered. I'm talking about the clothes that look like they were made for the club scene in 2003 (no offense to 2003, it was a great year!) or something from a grandmas Easter wardrobe. A lot of times its like those are your choices, have fun. Well, I will definitely be having fun mixing it up with a few of these looks!

FOR THE LOVE OF PLAID

I'M MAD FOR IT

This week while I was searching for a plaid dress or kimono, I started on my usual sites, ASOS, Forever 21, Nasty Gal, Nordstroms and Barneys. I'm loving the plaid leggings with a matching plaid shirt. I definitely will be doing that this season, probably with mismatched plaid though!

I don't only stick to the plus size options when shopping, I usually type what I'm looking for into the search section and away I go! So when I was on Forever 21 I did just that. But what came up was not what I was expecting. First the "regular" sizes, then womens accessories and then the mens section. But nothing from the plus size section. At first I thought I must have missed the second page, but nope, plus size was not included in the search. And believe me, there are plenty of plus size plaid options on the site. While on one hand I'm super pumped that more and more retailers are finally carrying plus size options, on the other, I'm frustrated by the level of invisibility that is still exists.

I mean, #celebratemysize duh

These are some of the plaid options I'm into // including wearing my fur stole over an oversized flannel
